1 Day Workshop

DESCRIPTION:

To be successful, organizations are continually challenged to operate as effectively as possible and to be better than their competition. Achievement of these objectives is dependent on a variety of business processes and management practices. A proven process is program/project management. Program/project management has a 40-year track record of delivering scope, schedule, and cost results-exactly what is being demanded by customers today.

The workshop intends to demonstrate under what conditions project management is most likely to produce results. One of the important conditions is the overall environment in which projects operate. The relationship of the project and its environment will be explored, to include the organizational context. Project management support offices will also be explored as enabling mechanisms. Baseline management and change control is also emphasized.

It is the thesis of the workshop that program/project management is applicable to a large percentage of the work that an organization undertakes, but not all of the work. Experience also shows that either too much project management or not enough are both possible conditions that have consequences in terms of an organization's ultimate effectiveness. In answering the question "how much is enough," the workshop integrates risk management principles.

OBJECTIVE:

This workshop is designed to give the target audience information on the fundamental project management processes and how to best use those processes to benefit their organization. A major objective of the workshop is to show the types of data and information that should be expected from the project management process and to provide techniques on the use of data.

EXPECTED RESULTS:

Participants will leave with a sound understanding of basic program/project management principles and application techniques to make project management work for their organizations. The workshop will show how program/project management will substantially increase an organization's success.
